What will I learn to do?
The aim of this documentation is to give you all the information you need to make the most of SPIP.
Still, it may happen in the future that you feel like getting complementary information or learning how to perform more complex tasks.
You may as well need a quick reminder on a given feature while working on your site, and thus benefit from help accessible directly from your private area.
The internal help landing page

In this lesson you will learn about additionnal sources of information that may be helpful to you:
How to use SPIP’s internal online help
How to use the Spip.net and Spip-Contrib.net sites
How to get SPIP help on other sites or find resources in your language
How can I use SPIP’s internal online help?
There are two ways to access the internal help in SPIP:
You can click on the Help icon, in the main top icons
You can use the contextual help by clicking on the question marks icons spread over the pages of the private area.

An example of general use
You are on the Launch pad and you are hesitating between creating an article or creating a news, but you don’t remember the difference between the two.
Click on the Help icon in the top banner
A pop-up opens with a menu on the left hand side; the information is sorted by topic (SPIP installation, Articles, Sections, etc.).
Click on the small arrow in front of the item "News" in the left hand side menu
A sub-menu opens and shows you the help topics available for "News"
Click on one of those topics to obtain more information
Use the intenal help in a general use

An example of contextual use
You are writing an article and you want to create a bulleted list within the article, but you cannot remember the typographical shortcuts to do it.
In the article edit page, at the top of the Text field:
Click on the question mark icon after the text: you can enrich the layout of your text by using "typographical shortcuts"
The help pop-up which we saw previously opens up, but this time it shows directly the topic "Typographical shortcuts".
Scroll to this help topic: "Creating bulleted or numbered lists"
Use the internal help in a contextual use
What should I do if help in my language is incomplete or not available at all?
The help in Farsi language is missing or has not been installed yet.
The SPIP community continually contributes to the translation of help in all the languages officially supported. But the translation for some topics may not be available in your language. If this is the case, you will need to select another language, for example the English or the French version.
You are on the help page where a message in the language you have just selected warns you that no help is available in that language.
Below this message you see a combo box with all the languages SPIP supports.
Select a language where the help is more likely to be available, English, Spanish or French for instance.
The page reloads automatically with the language you have just selected.
If you wish to take part in the SPIP translations, you can apply at the following address: http://www.spip.net/rubrique4.html an interface will be made available to you so you can contribute.
