What will I learn to do?
Only administrators or restricted administrators can publish or reject articles
An administrator can choose the status of an article.

When an editor thinks he has finished editing his article, he submits it for publication to the administrator.
As an administrator, you are responsible for making the decision to publish an article.
Remember that once it is published, it is visible for all the visitors of your website.
In this lesson, you will learn how to publish or reject an article.
You will also learn how to publish or reject a news item; the process is similar, although more straightforward.
How do I publish an article ?
An article can have five status:
Once an author has submitted his article for publication, its status is then “submitted for evaluation” in the article page of the administrator.
1. editing in progress
2. submitted for evaluation
3. published online
4. in the dustbin
5. rejected
Before you are able to publish an article, it must have been submitted by its author.

You can see the list of the submitted articles in the Launch pad
Click on the article you want to publish

If you want to get an insight of what the article will look like once it is published, you can click on "Show preview", in the upper left corner below the article number.
If you cannot see the icon "Show preview", it probably means that the Preview mode is not enabled.
If you are an Administrator, you can activate this option in the "Preview" configuration block:
Click on the Configuration icon
Click on the "Advanced functions" tab
Scroll down to the "Preview" block

Use the drop-down menu “Article status” and choose “published online”
A “Submit” button shows up on the right of the drop-down menu
Click on Submit
Publish an article
As an administrator, you may publish your own article. Do not hesitate to ask feed-back from your peers first, submitting your work to a collective discussion before publishing it...
How do I publish a news item?
The list of news items to be validated displays in the Launch pad.
Review point
Remember that a news item can only have three status:
1. submitted
2. validated (equivalent to "published online" for an article)
3. rejected
Also, it is not attached to an author. And a news item can only be attached to a root section, not to a sub-section.
In SPIP, there are two main ways to publish a news item:

In the Launch pad, click on the news item
The news item page loads
Click on the button "Publish this news item"
If you want to perform some modifications before publishing the news:

Click on the news item
The news item page loads
Click on "Modify this news item"
Make the changes you want
At the end of the news, in the field "Is this news item to be published?" choose: "Yes – News item validated"
Click "Save"
That’s it!
