What will I learn to do?
The Calendar in SPIP is the ideal tool for getting an overview of when articles and news were published online, as well as programming upcoming events in your team or a reminder for yourself.
In this lesson, you will learn how to:
Access the calendar and change its appearance according to your preferences and needs
View published articles and news sorted according to their publication dates
Link your announcements to a specific date (if you are an Administrator only)
Send a message to one of your peers from the Calendar
Schedule your memos
First, watch the steps
The Calendar icon is in the toolbar.
Hovering the mouse over the icon shows the current calendar month.
The date is dependent on the computer system where SPIP is hosted
Click on the icon: the calendar page opens
The default page layout is set to display the current week.
Two clickable M signs appear next to each date. The first one is blue: this is used to schedule a personal memo.
The second one is green and is used to exchange messages.
Administrators see a third M, in yellow, which is used to schedule an announcement on a chosen date.
Can I customize the calendar to fit my preferences?
At the top of the calendar there are several small buttons that can be used to customise the calendar’s appearence, according to your needs and preferences:
The set of three icons on the farthest right are used to change the calendar display to:
monthly
weekly
or daily
When you are in daily or weekly mode, you can see 4 small clocks:
The first clock enables/disables the hours from being displayed on the current dates
The second clock displays the hours of the whole day
The third clock hides the AM hours
The fourth clock shows both AM and PM hours
The four small clock-shaped icons and zoom buttons are only available in daily or weekly modes
The “plus” or “minus” magnifying glasses allow you to zoom in and out of the hours.
On the left side, the first icon displays a list of three months (previous, current and next).
If you are in daily or weekly modes, the current selected day or week is framed.
The date of the day is highlighted.
The previous months are also visible on top of these three months and the next months are listed below. You can click on any of those months to navigate far in the past or the future.
Clicking on the icon itself takes you to the current date, or week, or month
The small forward and backward arrows can also be used to instantly jump to the previous or next date, or week, or month
